Ne-Yo

There's a differentiation between a ladies' gentleman and a male who loves women, and Ne-Yo reps representing the latter. The 28-year-elderly singer-songwriter says his latest collecting of honest heat songs is a honour to the Rat Pack's pressed-adapt class, but it's genuinely a wonderful concept album circular what a big boyfriend he can be — shout it Songs in the Key of Nice. Having already penned lady-power hits championing Beyoncé and Rihanna, he's the Gloria Steinem of R&B on "Miss Independent": "She move be fond of a skull. . . . That's why I affection her." Beyond its authentic lyrics, Gentleman also proves that Ne-Yo is a bright burst omnivore, gifted with a silken speech and an adeptness to draw everything from the Beatles to Stevie Wonder to clubland synths beneath his sonic parasol. He plays quick beats away lagging vocals on the Stargate-produced "Closer," deploys clarinet and harpsichord on the Seventies-explode "So You Can Cry" and pulls exterior tinkling piano for "Lie to Me," a genuine-talk meditation on unfaithfulness. The sulky piano and chord movement forward call to mind Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River," but the lyrics be obsessed a big plait: This period, Ne-Yo's the single in tears.
